Tasting Notes

Roda Reserva 2022 shows an intense cherry color with ruby highlights and aromas of ripe red fruit, strawberries, cherries, black plum, sweet spice, herbs, cedar, tobacco, and subtle mineral tones. The palate is elegant and well structured, with stewed fruit, gentle spice, fresh acidity, fine tannins, moderate ripeness, and a long savory finish.

Food Paring

Pair this Rioja Reserva with red meat, game, mushrooms, legumes, spice-driven dishes, or white fish to complement its elegant structure and red-fruited depth. It is also a polished choice for roast lamb, grilled meats, and savory Spanish dishes when you want a modern Rioja with freshness, silky tannins, and a long finish.

Professional Reviews

94 James Suckling

"Very fine, chalky tannins from this warm vintage, showing refinement and freshness. Long, spicy finish. Really solid. Drink or hold."

93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"The 2022 Roda is perhaps more black-fruited than red in this very warm and dry vintage. Produced with a blend of Tempranillo with 6% Garnacha and 5% Graciano, it fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in 50/50 new and second-use French barriques for 14 months. It's spicy and more Mediterranean, with notes of aromatic herbs and a medium- to full-bodied palate, good ripeness, a moderate (for the year) 14% alcohol, a pH of 3.58 and 5.8 grams of acidity. It has slightly more rustic tannins this year. It calls for food."
