Tasting Notes

This deep Shiraz opens with elderberry, blueberry, bilberry, red and black fruit compote, baking spice, cinnamon sugar, sweet custard, roasted meat, herbs, blueberry pie, and poached plum. The palate is robust, ripe, and sculpted, with cassia bark spice, chocolate-powder tannins, olive tapenade, tomato consommé umami, ferrous minerality, and a velvety assertive finish.

Food Paring

Pair this warm-climate Australian Shiraz with beef, lamb, venison, grilled meats, or rich game dishes to complement its ripe fruit and velvety tannin structure. Its blue-fruit intensity, chocolatey tannins, and savory spice also make it a bold match for barbecue, braised short ribs, and peppered steak.

Professional Reviews

"A warm-hearted Shiraz if ever there was one, generous yes, but it’s a well-controlled generosity. Deep purple hues. Blackstrap liquorice, deep black fruits, anise, woody spices light up the bouquet. Almost slinky on the tongue, sinuous and close fitting, it moves well aided by time in American hogsheads (just 15% new) providing some spark and overall spiciness and pastry notes to a palate that celebrates ripe Shiraz. Laid out on long, soft, ripe tannins, it finishes much the way it started with a flourish of choc-liquorice and black fruit intensity."
