Tasting Notes

A serious old-vine Verdejo with notes of melon, hay and crushed stone wrapped in a subtly honeyed, leesy texture. Bone-dry and layered, it shows citrus-driven lift and savory, saline minerality through a long finish.

Food Paring

Serve with seafood such as grilled prawns, seared scallops, or paella to mirror the wine’s salinity and citrus edge. It also pairs well with veggie-forward plates or lightly spiced Asian flavors, especially when herbs and citrus are in the dish.

Professional Reviews

93 Jeb Dunnuck

"The 2023 Nisia Las Suertes is 100% Verdejo from very old vines (possibly even the 1880s) and was aged on the lees with bâtonnage for a minimum of 7 months in French oak puncheons and demi-muids. It has more melon ball, hay, crushed stone, and subtly honey nuances that carry to a beautifully textured, layered white with a gorgeous mid-palate, integrated acidity, and a great finish. It's a serious wine that's geared for the dinner table."

Region Information

Rueda is a Spanish wine region best known for fresh, aromatic white wines made from the Verdejo grape. Located on the high plains of Castilla y León, Rueda benefits from a continental climate with cool nights that preserve acidity and aromatics. Wines from Rueda are valued for their crisp texture, citrus and herbal notes, and clean, refreshing finish.

Spain has the largest vineyard area in the world and a winemaking history that spans thousands of years. It is known for regions such as Rioja, Ribera del Duero, and Priorat, which produce distinctive red wines. Spain is also famous for fortified wines like Sherry and sparkling Cava. Modern investments and techniques have elevated quality while preserving regional identity.
