Tasting Notes

Deep ruby with violet tones, this Carménère opens with blue fruit, ripe blackberries, plum, cassis, violets, lavender, sandalwood, iodine, mussel shells, dark chocolate, spice, and subtle herbal notes. The palate is medium to full-bodied, silky, refined, and structured, with concentrated dark fruit, integrated tannins, balanced acidity, and a long persistent finish.

Food Paring

Pair this polished Chilean Carménère with beef, lamb, grilled meats, duck confit, pork tenderloin with roasted beets, or aged goat cheese with figs. Its blue and black fruit, refined tannins, and savory spice also make it a strong match for braised short ribs, stuffed pasta with pumpkin, and smoky mushroom dishes.

Professional Reviews

96 James Suckling

"The blue fruit combines with violets, lavender, sandalwood, iodine and mussel shells. Medium-bodied with very poised fruit and tannins that are integrated nicely in a refined and sophisticated way. Silky and very attractive at the end."

94 Patricio Tapia - Descorchados

"This is the third vintage of Wings, an 85% carmenere with 15% cabernet franc that comes from the Montes' vineyards on the slopes of the Apalta area, in the Colchagua Valley. This year, was cooler, and the herbal side is more pronounced, although always within the codes of the house, which accentuate ripeness and succulence. It is deep in flavors, intense in ripeness, and rich in black fruits, with firm tannins that need time in the bottle."

92 International Wine Challenge

"Black fruit, red currant and a hint of tobacco leaf. Well integrated oak and alcohol ."

91 Wine Enthusiast

"Carménère grapes used in this blend grow over granite soils in the Apalta Valley. The resulting wine shows energy and tension on the palate. A bouquet of oak spices introduces pronounced red and black fruit, green bell pepper and toasted oak flavors. It has lively acidity and a long savory finish."

Region Information

Valle Central is Chile’s most important wine‑producing region, extending across a broad area with varied subregions. Mediterranean climate conditions, cooling influences from the Andes and Pacific Ocean, and fertile valleys make it ideal for a wide range of grape varieties. Valle Central wines are known for ripe fruit character, balance, and consistent quality.

Chile’s unique geography, bordered by mountains, ocean, and desert, helps protect its vineyards from disease. The country produces reliable, high-quality wines with excellent value. Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, and Sauvignon Blanc are key varieties. Chilean winemaking balances consistency, innovation, and strong export markets.
