"Since 1985, Dolce has been the Sauternes-like sidekick of the Far Niente brand, one currently made from Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown in its own special Coombsville vineyard where it gets fog coming in off the Bay. And Dolce has that Sauternes-like waxy and lightly gamey fruit aromas, but the taste is its own – vanilla and coconut flavors that are meant to be more haunting than assertive, a bit light on the acid balance in the finish, a few sharp savory edges at the swallow, and a aftertaste that pleasantly stays around for several minutes."
