Tasting Notes

Enticing aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, plum, mocha, cedar, and clove rise from the glass. The round, complex palate layers ripe berries, fig, vanilla, and dried herbs over lush, creamy tannins.

Food Paring

Pair this plush Napa Valley red blend with grilled beef, lamb, poultry, or game to complement its ripe fruit and creamy tannins. Its mocha, cedar, clove, and dried-herb notes also make it an excellent match for steakhouse sides, braised short ribs, and savory mushroom dishes.

92.5 Ken's Wine Guide

"This slightly hazy and very dark ruby colored red blend from Chappellet opens with a black cherry and black currant bouquet with hints of cola and cedar. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, seamless, and savory. The flavor profile is a blackberry and stony minerality blend with notes of black cherry and black pepper. I also detected hints of cedar, clove, and tobacco. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and tannins build-up and show very nice length. I would pair this red blend with a New York strip steak. Enjoy - Ken"
