Tasting Notes

This 2022 ZD Cabernet is deep ruby and layered, showing cassis, anise, cola, black cherry pie, blackberry, blueberry, dark plum, baking spice, cinnamon, vanilla bean, mocha, cedar, and cocoa. The palate is full-bodied yet fresh and lively, with forward red and dark fruits, fine integrated tannins, an unctuous mouthfeel, and a long lush finish with blackberry, cocoa, and toasty vanilla.

Food Paring

Pair this Napa Cabernet with braised beef, barbecued fall-off-the-bone ribs, filet mignon, lamb, venison, or mature hard cheeses to complement its richness and polished oak character. It also works beautifully with grilled steak, roasted poultry, and savory game dishes when you want a structured red with plush fruit and a long finish.

93 Ken's Wine Guide

"This dark ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from ZD will be very popular at fine steak houses. It opens with a blackberry and toasted coconut bouquet with hints of black cherry and mocha. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, round, refined, and very approachable. The flavor profile is a black plum and mild milk chocolate blend with notes of cedar, toasted coconut, and blackberry. I also detected hints of black cherry, and stone dust. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and well-managed moderate tannins drift away nicely. I would pair this very food friendly Cabernet Sauvignon with filet mignon. Enjoy - Ken"

92 Wine Enthusiast

"Generous and energetic, this Cabernet Sauvignon joins flavors of baked cherries and cranberries with a sprinkle of spice, vanilla and mocha cream, and almost-tobacco spices. Fine, persistent tannins carry through a long finish."

92 James Suckling

"Full-bodied yet fresh and lively, this red offers a good, tannic texture to lift the deep black fruits and baking spices on the palate. Black cherries, blueberries, dark plums, cinnamon, vanilla bean and mocha add to the complexity and breadth."
