Tasting Notes - The 2019 vintage is sometimes overshadowed by the consistency and quality of the 2018, but it deserves more attention, especially since its best examples have given delicate, very fresh and fruity reds. To see how far 2019 has come, open this bottle of malbec from vineyards in the Vistalba area, from vines planted in 1912 on sandy loam and clay soils, no less. This was aged for 18 months, half in foudres and the other half in barrels, a third of which were new. And it's a delicious example of this very traditional part of Mendoza. Fresh ripe red fruits, floral tones, incisive acidity, and fierce, firm tannins that build a very good and fibrous structure. A wine that maintains the soul of the Vistalba reds, but at the same time offers an interpretation with more nerve, tension, and energy. The best version of Eolo we’ve tried—and we've tried them all.
