Professional Reviews

92 Descorchados

"This is the second version of Palma and, in addition to merlot, it has 30% malbec, all from vineyards in Tupungato. The merlot is from an old pergola that is 60 years old, and the malbec comes from a younger pergola that is 30 years old. Aged for about 20 months, this is a classic example of an old-school wine with an emphasis on the spicy and candied aromas of the aging, a very smooth body, and friendly acidity that does not overwhelm the sweetness."

Region Information

Mendoza is Argentina’s most important wine region, located at the foothills of the Andes Mountains. High altitude vineyards, dry climate, and abundant sunshine create ideal conditions for Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and other varieties. Mendoza wines are known for ripe fruit flavors, concentration, and balanced acidity.

Argentina is South America’s largest wine producer and is especially known for Malbec. Vineyards are often planted at high altitudes near the Andes Mountains, resulting in intense flavors and natural acidity. Mendoza is the country’s most important wine region. Argentine wines combine old-world traditions with modern techniques.
