Tasting Notes

Beautiful dark cherry in color, this wine opens with strawberry jam, raspberries, red berries, rosemary, lavender, prunes, dates, cranberry, plum, and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is warm and velvety, with very fine tannins, mineral depth, pepper, licorice, roasted coffee, chocolate, and a persistent slightly bitter finish.

Food Paring

Pair this Priorat red with roast lamb, grilled vegetables, slow-cooked venison, wild boar, hare, or mature sheep cheeses such as Manchego. Its velvety body, mineral structure, and savory Mediterranean character make it a strong match for hearty game dishes and richly seasoned roasts.

Professional Reviews

96 Decanter

"A punchy perfume of cranberries, plums and strawberries steeped in aromatic thyme, marjoram and rosemary herbals. Supple and weighty with a mineral structure and persistent finish."

95 James Suckling

"Such an outstanding Priorat that already shows beautifully as it opens up slowly in the glass. Vivid aromas of grilled grapefruit, sweet strawberries, blueberries, minerals, cocoa, white pepper and Mediterranean spices. Textured, expressive and medium- to full-bodied, with firm tannins and a long, pristine finish. Concentrated flavors, but pretty ethereal in the middle."

95 Wine Enthusiast

"Perfumed, almost heady, aromatics sweep through the nose showcasing Mediterranean herbs, desert spices, dried earth, which carry into juicy cranberries, and mixed plums. Refreshing graphite and rocky pleasure emerge from the lengthy finish."

91 Wine Spectator

"Lightly chewy and layered, with pleasing plumpness to the flavors of ripe black cherry, plum sauce, licorice, mocha, thyme and rosemary. The initial focus is on the fruit, but sanguine iron, leather and tarry mineral notes come to the fore through the finish, where the tannins show a bit more burly structure. Decant. Carignan, Grenache and Syrah. Best from 2027 through 2036. 4,600 cases made, 750 cases imported."

Region Information

Priorat is one of Spain’s most prestigious wine regions, known for powerful, age‑worthy red wines made primarily from Garnacha and Cariñena. Steep vineyard slopes, low yields, and distinctive llicorella slate soils contribute to intensely concentrated wines with depth and structure. Priorat wines are recognized for complexity, richness, and strong terroir expression.

Spain has the largest vineyard area in the world and a winemaking history that spans thousands of years. It is known for regions such as Rioja, Ribera del Duero, and Priorat, which produce distinctive red wines. Spain is also famous for fortified wines like Sherry and sparkling Cava. Modern investments and techniques have elevated quality while preserving regional identity.
