Tasting Notes

Bold oak, citrus, ripe lemon, apple, yeast, honey, and lees create a complex aromatic profile. The palate is full and creamy yet refreshing, with toasty spice, briny minerality, subtle oak, and a long finish.

Food Paring

Pair this complex Chardonnay with brie, fresh seafood, pesto chicken, or creamy risotto. Its saline freshness and generous texture also shine with roast poultry and grilled rich fish.

Professional Reviews

95 Vinous

"From Gualtallary, the 2024 Chardonnay was aged 12 months in 500L French oak barrels, partially under flor. It shows hazelnut, acacia and fresh pear, with herbal hints and soft oak marked by a touch of caramel. Dry, the palate works differently in the context of both the variety and the Uco Valley: it is tight, with a certain dryness that avoids any sweetness, finishing with a cashew-like note. A stylistically interesting wine, delicately resolved."

94 James Suckling

"Youthful and lightly spicy aromas of freshly cut pineapple, chalk, star fruit and touches of kelp and nougat. Deliciously saline and pure on the medium-to full-bodied palate, with a long and lightly unctuous finish. The subtle salinity offers extra layers, length and definition to the wine."

93 Jeb Dunnuck

"From a hot vintage, the 2024 Chardonnay grown in Gualtallary is made with 100% flor, which eats the sugar and glycerol that are more in abundance due to the heat. During cooler years, Vigil does the opposite. Creamy, peachy, and floral, it shows a good balance of acidity and fruit sweetness, medium-bodied with a hint of richness. Drink now through 2034."

93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Produced from sites in Gualtallary, including Adrianna Vineyard, the 2024 Chardonnay was vinified in 500-liter barrels, a portion of which underwent the biological aging that has become a signature of Alejandro Vigil’s winemaking. Crushed stones, dried herbs, green fruits and saline overtones mark the nose, introducing one of the richer, broader palates in the introductory El Enemigo range. The finish recalls the energy of the nose, lingering long with pronounced salinity and herbal overtones."

Region Information
