Tasting Notes

Baby Blue Red Blend 2022 opens with bing cherry, raspberry, cinnamon, dried sage, cocoa powder, fruit punch, toasted baking spice, crushed flowers, fresh forest herbs, and rich cherry aromas. The palate is full-bodied, smooth, and inviting, with dried cranberry, cherries jubilee, vanilla cream, berry liqueur, cocoa, purple flowers, ripe tannins, lively acidity, and a clean lingering finish.

Food Paring

Pair this Alexander Valley red blend with grilled beef, lamb, pork, duck, chicken, hard cheeses, nuts, or dried fruits to complement its ripe fruit and mouth-coating texture. It is also a versatile choice for hearty pasta, roasted vegetables, and casual gatherings when you want a polished Cabernet-based blend with spice and freshness.

Professional Reviews

92 Jeb Dunnuck

"Pouring a dark red color, the 2022 Baby Blue is generous and inviting with notes of fruit punch, toasted baking spice, crushed flowers, and fresh forest herbs. Full-bodied, it’s a highly appealing and charming wine with a fruity feel, ripe tannins, even acidity, and a clean finish. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon along with 13% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, 4% Syrah 2% Malbec, and 1% Cab Franc, I enjoy this wine in this vintage, and it stays refreshing, which can pose a challenge with some 2022s."

92 Wine Enthusiast

"Rich aromas of cocoa powder, cherry and cinnamon waft from the glass on the nose of this (mostly) Bordeaux-style blend. The palate delivers rich grippy tannin and flavors of berry liqueur, cocoa and purple flowers before a long finish. Yummy now, a few years in the cellar will really unlock the energy of this wine."

91 James Suckling

"A supple, deeply fruity wine that’s generous in blueberry, milk chocolate and black cherry flavors on a full body. Mild tannins keep the texture smooth and easy in this Bordeaux-style red blend that is dominated by cabernet sauvignon."
