Tasting Notes

This 2022 Cune Crianza is bright garnet and fruit-forward, showing cherry, berry, ripe red fruit, strawberry, licorice, vanilla, sweet spice, tobacco, smoked meat, and subtle American oak notes. The palate is smooth, crunchy, and approachable, with medium body, soft tannins, refreshing acidity, balanced fruit and oak, and a fresh lingering finish.

Food Paring

Pair this classic Rioja Crianza with roast pork tenderloin, paella, lamb moussaka, charcuterie, or soft cheeses to complement its red fruit, licorice, and smooth oak polish. It is also a versatile choice for Mediterranean dishes, grilled meats, poultry, and tapas when you want an approachable Spanish red with freshness and finesse.

Professional Reviews

91 James Suckling

"A fresh and fruity red with cherry and berry aromas. It’s crunchy and delicious, with a medium body and a fresh finish. Tempranillo with some graciano. So delicious. A clear and bright crianza."

90 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"The 2022 Cune Crianza is a blend of 85% Tempranillo with 15% Garnacha and Mazuelo from Rioja Alta. Looking for the Haro style, it fermented in 20,000-liter stainless steel vats with selected yeasts and matured in well-seasoned, used American oak and a small portion of French oak barrels for 12 months. Like in many places across Spain, the results in 2022 are much better than expected. This is soft and tender, polished and approachable, without the tension of a cooler year but very pleasant and easy to drink. They have been looking for finer and more elegant wines, finer-boned. It was bottled with 13.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.63 and 5.45 grams of acidity."
