Godello was on the verge of extinction just 50 years ago when growers from Valdeorras (a neighboring region to Bierzo) came together for it’s REVIVAL. Revival was the name of the program meant to bring this variety back from the brink of extinction (REestructuracion de VInedos de VALdeorras). Now Godello is racing up the ladder of Spanish whites as a great alternative to Chardonnay and another crisp alternative to Spanish whites being all Albariño.
